Remnants
Remnants are beings brought back to un-life (?) by true necromancy, a specific branch of necromancy. Yes, necromancy exists in the Takeoverse. Unlike normal necromancy, remnants retain their own free will instead of being directly controlled by the necromancer.
Remnants are really less of a species and more of a state of being. Remnants typically retain most physical traits of their previous state before their resurrection, and still retain most of their species traits, but several traits are gained / lost for remnants by being in a state of undead (or maybe un-life?). For example, remnants typically do not require physical sustenance to function, and also possess the ability of darkvision (which is essentially the ability to see in the dark).
